We at American Back Society are committed to protecting your privacy.
We use the information collected from you to process orders and to provide
you with further information and updates. American Back Society does
not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. Please
read on for more details about our privacy policy.
What information do
we collect and how do we use it?
- When you request a print item sample or place an order, we need to
know your name, e-mail address and mailing address. This allows us
to process and fulfill your request and to notify you of your order
status. Purchases also require your credit card number and expiration
date.
- We monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop
and improve the design and layout of this ecommerce website.
- We may also use the information we collect to occasionally notify
you about important changes to our Web site, new products or services,
and special offers we think you'll find valuable. If you would rather
not receive this information, contact our customer service, we will
make sure that your preferences for each account or e-mail address
will be changed as required by you.
- A number of companies offer utilities designed to help you visit
websites anonymously. Although we will not be able to provide you with
a personalized experience at American Back Society if we cannot recognize
you, we want you to be aware that these tools exist.
How does American Back Society
protect customer information?
You place orders with American Back Society
via a secure server. The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol encrypts
all information you input, before it is sent to us. Furthermore,
all of the customer data we collect is protected against unauthorized
access.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information
online, we also do everything in our power to protect user information
off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Employees must enter their password to gain access to user information. Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information are in a high-security environment at our co-location facility.
Also we reveal only the last five digits of your credit card numbers
when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card
number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing.
What about "cookies"?
"Cookies" are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personal information, but they do enable us to provide features such as 1-Click shopping and storing items in your shopping cart between visits. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. Even without a cookie, you can still use most of the features in our website, including your shopping cart.
The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to
prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser
notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether.
However, cookies allow you to take full advantage of some of American
Back Society's unique features, and we recommend that you leave them
turned on.
Will American Back Society disclose the information it collects to outside
parties?
Information about our customers is an important asset of our
business, and we are not in the business of sell, trade, or rent your
personal information to others. We share customer information only
as described below:
- Agents: We use other companies and individuals to perform functions
on our behalf. Examples include delivering packages, sending postal mail
and e-mail, processing credit card payments, fulfilling orders, and providing
customer service. They have access to personal information needed to
perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
- Business Transfers: As we continue to develop our
business, we might sell or buy stores, subsidiaries, or business units.
In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the
transferred business assets but remains subject to the promises made
in any pre-existing Privacy Notice (unless, of course, the customer
consents otherwise). Also, in the unlikely event that American Back
Society or substantially all of its assets are acquired, customer information
will of course be one of the transferred assets.
- Protection of American Back Society and Others: We
release account and other personal information when we believe release
is appropriate to comply with the law wherein we have a good-faith
belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial
proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Website; enforce
or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements; or protect
the rights, property, or safety of American Back Society, our users,
or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies
and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. Obviously,
however, this does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise
disclosing personally identifiable information from customers for commercial
purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy
Notice.
- With Your Consent: Other than as set out above,
you will receive notice when information about you might go to third
parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the
information.
How does American
Back Society allow customers to update or change the information it
collects?
You may update or change information related to your account
by log in My Account with your user name and password. It is important
for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and
to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
Protection of Children's Personal Information
American Back Society
is a general audience site and does not knowingly collect any personal
information from children.
